Vernon, Dec 30. Justice of the Peace H C Justin returns a verdict of death by gunshot wounds at the hands of unknown persons in the deaths of J H Haggard a 66 year old tenant farmer and his five children. No arrests planned. The bodies were found in beds across the farm with a shotgun found across Haggard and seven shells total. The note on the door and lack of outside involvement are cited in support of an unknown assailant theory.
Laredo Texas seeks a way to stop the closing of Laredo as a port of entry into Mexico for commerce. A mass meeting is planned tonight as customs houses at Nuevo Laredo face action. Mexican consul closure and recent restrictions are viewed as retaliation for the Valls Calles incident.
Dow Jones and Company reported a petition in involuntary bankruptcy filed in Indianapolis against the Stutz Motor Car Company of America. The filing by three creditors from Indianapolis seeks relief after alleging cash payments to preferred creditors. Claims total 2176 dollars. Berry's rug cleaning noted in the address.
In Coeur d Alene Idaho twenty four residents of Mullan including the mayor and city councilmen and Shoshone County sheriff await sentencing after a federal jury found them guilty of conspiracy to violate prohibition law. Wm. Allen aged 55, a real estate and oil leases dealer who recently moved from Pennsylvania, was found dead in his room at 604 Fillmore Street about noon. Officials say the cause is natural, the inquest led by Justice J. W. Minter concluded. The body remains at Boxwell Funeral Home as relatives are sought.
President Hoover plans to submit to the Senate on Monday the nomination of Senator Frederic M. Sackett of Kentucky as Ambassador to Germany. His early resignation and departure for Berlin are expected.

Dr G Swift Jr and Lawrence Teague say they were abducted by narcotics addicts or peddlers in Dallas and Waco while driving through North Texas on Saturday night. They alleged captors armed with a machine gun, sometimes in disguise, sped to multiple towns before Swift escaped and Teague was released near Butlerson.
Fort Worth police report two leads in the Waco abduction and robbery of Dr. C. G. Swift Jr. and taxi driver Lawrence Teague. A 25 year old sleeping in a Jennings Avenue high school rest room matches the bandit description. Dr. Swift’s physician briefcase was found at Central Bus Station and identified.

A manhunt in Bowling Green and surrounding counties failed to locate two of three bank robbers who hit the Farmers Bank at Oakland and killed president J. Robert Kirby of Smiths Grove. Guardsmen, police, and National Guard members searched trains, buses, and roads while Elmer Grayson of Indianapolis, a confessed bandit, awaited trial after being moved to Nashville.
United Press reports Colonel Charles A. Lindbergh and his wife landed at the Transcontinental Airport in Columbus Ohio at 946 a m today after visiting Lindbergh's mother in Detroit. The couple arrived from Detroit and were assisted by Boxwell Bros. ambulance.
