Cotton Market Outlook Sees Improved Demand Ahead
New York reports from International News Service show cotton prices rising from 17 to 22.5 cents in 1928, then easing. Despite high acreage, yields were lower due to excessive rainfall and boll weevil damage. Domestic and foreign demand improved late year, with exports rising and auto industry use boosting consumption. Gardiner H. Miller of the New York Cotton Exchange predicts strong 1929 consumption if prices stay near parity with foreign growth.
