Roswell New Mexico December 25 two youths are jailed in Artesia and Roswell for killings after a December 24 shooting. Cavalnger 18 surrendered after a knife fight with Perry Cavanger father of the suspect. Ballou 55 died in front of the First National Bank Artesia. Martinez charged with murder in Carlsbad after a chase into the mountains. body found in Pecos River.
J Raymond Bedford 39 died of heart failure in Albuquerque after a flu illness. He was en route to Amarillo to spend Christmas with his sister Mrs Henry A Ansley. Burial in Amarillo likely Thursday. He was known as Scoop Bedford for The Daily News era and worked for Certain Teed Products. Survived by his widow and his sister Mrs Ansley.
Dr Irene T Meyers dean of women at Occidental college says a lower age limit for school entry is needed as three year olds are forming habits temperament and personality. She argues early skilled guidance is essential.
The sheriff's department reports several threatening calls aimed at Deputy George Gay last night urging him to go to a San Jacinto address and confront a caller. A man described as under the influence of dope was arrested at the address. he was identified by others as the caller. Gay has recently been connected to liquor arrests in which he acted as a purchaser for the department.

Tonight and Wednesday clouds increase in Arkansas Oklahoma and east and west Texas with warmer temperatures. Louisiana sees fair skies tonight and warmer conditions with increasing clouds on Wednesday.
Amarillo observes a merry Christmas as King George’s condition improves in England. Locally, welfare workers report ample gifts and programs. Radio reports say the coastwise steamer Northwestern arrived beside the drifting Roosevelt and disabled Starr near Middletown Island Alaska. The Roosevelt seeks to rescue 12 to 15 crewmen while the Starr 23 aboard rides out a storm. Northwestern pumps oil to calm seas and avoid towing.
A Christmas Day report from the Southeast lists twenty deaths from pre Christmas fires and gunpowder accidents. Four Cartersville children died when fireworks ignited store fireworks. a toy pistol fire killed two in Washington, Georgia. a revolver accident killed another child. Greenville farmhouse fire claimed four deaths. eight more lives were lost in an Anniston Alabama farmhouse blaze.
Kenneth Hermann 19, nephew of A Hermann and G C Hermann, drilling contractors, identified as one victim in a car accident and drowning near White Deer. The other victim is believed to be J M Kurlee. a letter bearing that name and a poll tax receipt were found with the body. Hermann rode to Amarillo for Christmas and truck repairs. He had worked in the local field since June.
Christmas day brings grief as sixteen people die in fires and explosions from fireworks and dynamite caps. Four deaths occur near Hazard Kentucky and four in Cartersville Georgia. A child is killed while playing with fireworks at Cornelius Stacy’s Troublesome Creek home.
A bomb shattered the home of Joseph Porcaro, a Republican committeeman in Chicago’s Thirty-Second Ward, four hours after he gave out 200 Christmas stockings. Porcaro's parents were displaced, his mother collapsed from heart issues, and the blast caused extensive damage estimated at 1500 dollars. Nearby families Frank Denotto, Anthony Grecco, and Michael Sacco were also jolted from bed. the rear door was blown into two houses, affecting Pasquale Firorita's home.
The United States wakes on Christmas Day with a peaceful nation and a president elect returning from international talks.
