Shawnee Oklahoma December 21 James Overstreet alias gentleman robber pleaded guilty to robbery with firearms in the December 10 hold up of the Federal National Bank. He was sentenced to twenty five years in the state peniten tiary by Superior Judge LG Pittman.
An Airways Express DH 34 crashed shortly after takeoff from Purley Down while en route to Paris for Christmas. Eight aboard died, including two women and five male passengers such as Dr. Barbosa Lima of Brazil and Cedric Trudzett, with the pilot among the dead. The Imperial Airways statement confirmed seven passengers plus the pilot perished.
Amarillo resident J. W. Lawrence claims a prize for a duck catching story. He says while feeding bundles at a West Amarillo farm he looked up and netted a large mallard, then kept the duck as proof of the tale. He acknowledges others may doubt the account.
William H. Anderson formerly led the Anti-Saloon League in New York released on parole after nine months for third degree forgery. He was immediately re-arrested on indictments charging grand larceny and extortion in Ossining, N Y.
Dallas reports a new cold wave with lower temperatures forecast for Thursday. Snow fell in parts of west Texas and the Panhandle while Dallas measured 25 degrees. Forecasters said mercury would drop tonight or Thursday morning and not be as harsh as the previous wave. The Young People’s Service League of St Andrew’s Episcopal church hosts a carnival with side shows at 7:36 Friday at the Parish House.

Mrs Ruth Hobart and FE Miller stand trial again on a joint murder charge over the July shooting death of E W Hobart. A discharged jury left no agreement after two sick members prompted a new trial, to be held in a town outside the district within days.

Floyd Grimes former Globe composing room member escaped serious harm when a loose end of a fallen electric light wire tangled in his car at Fourth and Taylor. A telephone pole snapped near the bottom and crashed onto the car top demolishing it. Police were notified.
