Ashtola Post Office Robbery Reported Tuesday Night

The Ashtola post office in Donley county was robbed Tuesday night. Several hundred dollars in cash and merchandise were stolen from the building housing the post office and adjacent store. Police seek two young men in an old Ford roadster. sheriff notes large bundles of twenties and a mix of smaller bills plus coins. No arrests or traces located by noon.

Green Is Named Head of Kiwanis

Green was named president of the Kiwanis club for 1925 during today’s regular luncheon. Officers elected include J. E. Spann vice president C. M. Humphreys treasurer Stanly Hayne district trustee J. K. Boyce HH. C. Randolph W. O. Allen D. M. Warren Howard Ferguson I. W. O’Malley and Otis Trulove as directors. The meeting heard calls for lower industrial and commercial gas rates with remarks on local packing house investments and plans to attract industry by favorable pricing. The club will not meet Christmas week.

Amarillo City Commission Backs Zoning Law Push

The Amarillo city commission joined Texas cities in urging state zoning legislation to empower cities to pass local zoning rules. Real estate leaders expect a future act within years. A Kesler plan letter prompted the action despite minor points left unaddressed. The meeting also approved opening North Front Street to the city limits per a petition by M. N. Twadell and others.

Panhandle Gas Deal Nets Amarillo Firm Big Supply

J. M. Spurlock of Amarillo closed a deal with J. D. Wrather of Panhandle to deliver natural gas from the Spurlock well in Hutchinson county to Wrather’s Panhandle refinery. A 60 cent tariff will apply in Panhandle with a four inch line carrying 4,176,000 cubic feet daily. The arrangement marks the first gas sale from the Panhandle field and will supply industrial and commercial needs. Spurlock estimates a 300 barrel oil well and notes drilling to 3,200 feet. Several Amarillo investors and associates are named among the interested parties.

The Amarillo Wholesalers and Jobbers Association approves the Pantandle Plains Business conference for the third week of March 1925 in Amarillo. Gompers Body Arrives In New York For Elks Club Rites

The body of Samuel Gompers, late AFL president, arrived at Pennsylvania Station from Washington at 7:05 AM. It lay in the Elks club lodge room on West 43rd Street until 8 AM tomorrow with guards from Elks, Masons and other orders. Funeral services planned for 9 AM tomorrow, broadcast by radio if arranged. Rabbi Wise to officiate if not broadcast. final rites at Sleepy Hollow cemetery in Tarrytown under Elks and Masons supervision.

Five Year Old Hero Rescues Family From Gas

Antoinette Fiere aged five saved her parents three siblings from a deadly gas leak in a Brooklyn home. She awoke at dawn to the odor, roused her family, and after collapsing herself was revived with pulmotor treatment. the rest were revived by responders.

Two Chest Teams Only Out Today in Drive

Due to bad weather only two teams worked on the Community Chest drive today while others compiled final reports.
