Washington, Dec. 16. Administration leaders blocked an override of President Coolidge's postal veto. Senator Ashurst brought the question to the floor but parliamentary maneuvering forestalled the vote.
Toney Chisum was named president of the Amarillo Panhandle Automotive association for a second term after members pledged support. Chisum and Charles Dixon were elected officers with A Fancher re-elected treasurer. New directors include J R Cullum W O Crudgington W C Irwin and William Frost. Plans for an Amarillo Automobile Owner's club were discussed along with a reliability and endurance tour. The next meeting is January 6 with guests and drafted club plans.
Local 40 and 8 group will stage a promenade at the American Legion home tonight with every member likely in attendance. The wrecking crew has prepared for the event and fourteen doughboys will receive special attention during practice work before the promenade.
Leroy Miller and Henry Schafer purchase a thousand head of yearlings from Tom Coble. The pair plan to spend much time on the Schafer ranch where Mr Schafer has built a fine new residence.
Texas Utilities plans about 1 million dollars in cash expenditures over the next fifteen months for acquisitions additions and betterments to plants in West Texas. I R Kelso and H Wardack disclosed during exclusive interviews as they toured properties in Canyon Brownfield Post Hereford Tulsa Lubbock Plainview and other towns. They detailed plant additions engines and a potential transmission line from Plainview to Canyon Hereford and on to Clovis.
Bob Moore and Bob Ames of Oklahoma City arrived in Amarillo with their pointer Bob to hunt Bobs. M. B. Armstrong guided them on his ranch north of Amarillo for a couple of days.
Forecast calls for unsettled conditions tonight and tomorrow with possible rain or snow and a cold wave. Livestock warnings accompany the weather update. Today’s high reached 63 degrees and the low 45. A year ago the readings were 45 and 25.

At the Hotel Palo Duro at noon today four Amarillo residents with 35 years or more in the area shared a luncheon. The diners were Dr. C. F. Randall, H. B. Hume, J. M. Russell, and G. T. Oliver, who reflected on the county and city’s growth from prairie to present state.
The Amarillo school board voted last night to buy land for two $250,000 school buildings to serve western and southern districts. Plans include a western site near the Rock Island railway on Tenth Street and a southern facility for the Wagner Oliver-Bakle Lakeview areas with possible construction by 1925 26 and readiness by 1926 27, pending board actions.
In Amarillo court the witness said he was a Klansman in the Hobart Miller murder probe of July last year. He identified three men as watchers of the Hobart home but said they were not his deputies and denied Klan involvement in directing the investigation.

Construction starts on an industrial track of the Panhandle and Santa Fe railway from Thirteenth to Tenth street and possibly to Ninth street between Johnson and Grant streets. City engineer H. B. Jones has completed city drawings for the project. The line will serve several large firms including a Panhandle Lumber warehouse, with local property owners on Tenth street showing interest and expecting more development within a year.
Colonel Will Miller spotted a black tail buck with three white tails while crossing a Schafer and Price ranch ravine. He chose not to shoot and urged local sportsmen to leave deer alone for years to allow buck numbers to recover, noting does are plentiful and breeding needs require buck populations.

The Amarillo Business College will meet Panhandle High School Five at 8 oclock tomorrow night on the Dreamland Athletic Club floor. Following the game a dance will be held for the benefit of the local college team. Admission will be 35 cents for adults and 20 cents for children under twelve.
