Grudge War Ends in Beheading at Retrieve Prison Farm
The inmate Clarence W. Redwine, 38, Houston, was killed when fellow convicts at Retrieve Prison Farm fatally harmed him during a dining hall incident described as a gang affair. Officials said Redwine, long unpopular and in solitary at times, was attacked as about 200 inmates prepared to return to tanks. Warden L. Kelley ordered a tank shakedown and authorities seek a crude knife. Redwine had a long police record and multiple escapes. the tank system is blamed for such offenses. See CONVICT Page 2.

Riggs 70 was located about 8 miles northwest of Amarillo, near River Road School. He had been missing since Sunday morning and was taken to Northwest Texas Hospital in serious condition due to shock and exposure.
