Fatal crash kills California air guard officer near Amarillo
The body of Major Webb, a California based Air National Guard officer with the 195th Fighter Squadron, was recovered from a single engine F 51 crash scene 23 miles west of Amarillo in Oldham County after a snowbound search. The crash occurred Friday night with an estimated time between 8 and 8:30 PM. The wreckage stretched in a straight line over about 300 yards. The body was found in the field with a parachute folds draped over it. The guard plane and scene were investigated by Lt. Col. John E. Satterstrom and Amarillo base personnel. The body was taken to Amarillo Air Force Base for identification and disposition instructions.
