A dropped gallon jar of nitric acid at White Deer school injured six students, sending three to Worley Hospital in Pampa. Instructor R Y Corder applied ammonia and calcium hydroxide to the affected areas, water was used to prevent fire, and the floor was damaged but not ignited. Hospitalized were David Bradford, Jack Hood, and Betty Cofer with first and second degree facial and arm burns. Norma Gibson, Annie Lou Riggins, and Barbara Bentley were released after minor acid burns. About 16 students were present when the accident occurred around 9 10 Monday morning. no eye injuries are anticipated.
Cairo reports the government weighing a break in Anglo British relations after British road building troops leveled an Egyptian village. Acting Foreign Minister Ibrahim Farag Pasha announced a decision would come soon as the cabinet debated the issue in two sessions with a spokesperson noting discussions of Anglo Egyptian relations.
Forest Hill School choir directed by Mrs. Freda Duggan performs at 7 p.m. in Ellwood Park with the Bel Canto Chorale directed by A. M. Autrey taking the stage at 8 p.m. each evening through December 22 with Santa in his workshop nightly from 7 to 9.

Nine piglets and fifteen grown pigs faced a near tragedy when a fire Monday morning destroyed their barn living quarters three miles north of Pleasant Valley. Owner Mrs. M. J. Sanderson said the building was a total loss, likely sparked by an electric brooder in the shed. Firefighters battled the blaze from 6:35 to about 8. A neighbor, W. R. Waddell, helped move the pigs to safety. Two older pigs may have to be butchered due to injuries.
Paris reports a high level diplomatic source says Western powers and Soviet Russia agreed on forming a disarmament commission. The group would compare Western arms limitation plans with Soviet disarmament ideas and aim to draft proposals next spring. The source cautioned the diplomat spoke on condition of anonymity. A local lumber ad follows.
Police investigate a burglary and strong arm robbery at Gulf service station 1600 Canyon. Entry by unlocked window. Cash $148.25 concealed in a soft drink box. Separate robbery: Morris Belew of Fort Worth reports two men stole wallet with $21 cash, $65 overcoat, $22.50 suit coat after leaving a downtown bar and a North East Eighth night club. Belew described partial suspects.
Fred A. Seaton of Hastings Nebraska was appointed US senator to fill the seat of the late Kenneth S Wherry. Governor Val Peterson made the appointment. Seaton 42 will serve until a successor is elected next November and qualified by the canvassing board. He led Harold E Stassen forces in the Midwest and previously served two Nebraska state senate terms.
