Threat of Red Sabotage Infiltration of Unions Top Priority
The National Committee of the Communist Party orders state committees to concentrate on placing members in heavy industry. New York to join auto and machine tool unions, Ohio on rubber workers, California on steel and auto unions. A secret 25 man unit was sent to the Midwest to tighten grip on machine tools. West Coast leaders warn members not to overtly sabote but aim to be counted if needed. Notable 1941 Allis-Chalmers CIO strike linked to Communist leadership delayed destroyer production and aviation components.
