Workman Burned in Air Terminal Blast
A workman named Grumke was burned in a gasoline explosion at the air terminal 150 yards east of the blast site. Col Blucher Tharp said he had just finished filling a truck when the fire erupted. Flames towered 30 to 40 feet as 45,000 gallons in overhead tanks and 30,000 underground gallons burned. Fellow worker Preston Moore dragged Grumke to safety as additional men helped smother the flames. Fire crews fought the blaze in frigid air, moving 18 airplanes from Hangar No 1 and preventing further damage to tanks and planes. Loss of 150 Brahma cattle in Wildorado freeze
In Wildorado near Porta r, about 150 thin skinned Brahma cattle on George A Porter’s ranch were killed by a quick freeze after soaking rains and icy winds. Loss estimated at 20 000 to 30 000 dollars.
