At a House briefing Gen Omar Bradley chairman of the joint chiefs of staff gave Prime Minister Attlee and aides a first hand look at the Korean military situation. Bradley reportedly weighed all options including a UN withdrawal from Korea as American and British leaders faced the choice of whether to write off Korea. The unqualified decision was not stated in full.

Amarillo Chamber plans 6000 prize Christmas party

The Amarillo Chamber of Commerce retail merchants committee met to finalize Friday night’s Christmas party at Municipal Auditorium at 730 PM. About 6000 in prizes will be awarded including 1000 in cash from the Chamber Christmas fund and gifts valued over 25 from 180 merchants. Bel Canto Chorale from Amarillo High and a quartet will perform as carols open the event. The coupon program, started Nov 26, will cap the festivities, with attendance expected to be the largest yet. Murray Bond Forfeited In New Orleans Court

Bond of James Murray, wanted in Amarillo on embezzlement charges, was forfeited by Judge J Bernard Cocke in New Orleans criminal district court. The Southern Bond and Securities Company will appeal to the Texas Supreme Court while offering rewards for Murray’s arrest or information. Arraignment as a fugitive noted Murray’s absence and failed service attempts.

Man Killed As Truck Hits Train in Dumas

Ivy Haynes Keithley 33 of Texhoma Oklahoma died when his truck struck a Rock Island freight near Etter during a snowstorm. The Halliburton Oil Well Cementing Co. driver left Texhoma about 5 am for a Canadian River Gas well acidizing near Dumas. He left behind a wife and two children as his body remained in wreckage at 8:30 am. The accident occurred about 6 am.
