Washington December 5 A 24 hour armistice was signed in the senate to pause the dispute over Pennsylvania Senator-elect William S Ware and Illinois Senator-elect Frank L Smith amid a clash over campaign expenditures. The issue will be taken up after President Coolidge’s message. The opening of Congress shows a heavy bill backlog and potential coalition shifts in the Senate and House.
A $50,000 gift from Mayor and Mrs. Lee Bivins was announced at First Christian Church for a new 2 story dormitory at Randolph College Cisco. The dormitory, named Bivins Hall, will house 81 boys and follows the college’s recent growth as a West Texas Christian institution established to honor Randolph Clark.
Rebecca Bradley Rogers faces robbery with firearms in the December 13 hold up of the Farmers National Bank at Buda Texas. The trial in La Grange was recessed until Tuesday morning to review the San Marcos grand jury proceedings indicting her.
Bandits and police exchanged gunfire in The Parody night club on December 5. About 200 guests hid under tables as one man was killed and six or more wounded. Two women a policeman and two others suspected of involvement were among the casualties. Loot amounted to 65 dollars and a revolver taken from off duty officer George Shirtz.
President Calles entertained Dwight Morrow and guests aboard the presidential train near Monterrey by bullfighting in a private ring. He leaped into the ring and waved a crimson cloak while avoiding charging bulls, twice slipping and escaping injury as onlookers, including Will Rogers, looked on.

Deputy Sheriff Will Emerson lay dying in a Gainesville sanitarium after being shot in the abdomen. Dave Wilson, 28, farmer, is jailed in Fort Worth on assault to murder charges as officers investigated a Turkey theft at the Wilson farm where Sheriff Jake Wright was struck with a revolver.

The District of Columbia Supreme Court heard contempt charges against Harry F. Sinclair William J Burns and associates over surveillance of jurors in the Fall Sinclair oil case. Henry Mayon Day testified he hired Burns men to shadow the jury at Sinclair's request to prevent a verdict against Sinclair. Sinclair sought dismissal for lack of jurisdiction as the defense defended their actions as protecting trial participants amid Teapot Dome related conspiracies.
Mrs Margar et Lilliendahl sobs on the stand recounting how her husband was killed by two men. She denies that Willis Beach, her friend and co defendant, fired the fatal shot.
Pastor L N Stuckey and other Amarillo clergy denounced Sunday movies as law breaking. Protests followed arrests at the Mission theater where proprietor Will WKinch and four employees posted bonds after the theater opened showing The Ro ve of the Golden West. Sheriff Pollard defended limited arrests as legal and the show continued amid a packed crowd.
A early morning blaze at the Buckingham hotel annex in St. Louis destroyed the rear section, killing four women and injuring seven, with 118 guests in the two annex sections. Firefighters used gas masks amid dense smoke. some nurses are in critical condition.
Los Angeles reports a vast wildfire sweeping the Verdugo range toward Glendale and Burbank. Firefighters battled high winds as hundreds fought fires across the Santa Susanna and San Bernardino regions, destroying cabins, watersheds, and dozens of homes with damages likely in the millions. Two deaths were blamed on the windstorm.
A 30 second quake shook Santa Maria at 3 45 a m causing no damage. The city has recently been central to a series of strong earth disturbances along the Southern California coast.
B. H. Conner Jr aged 18 of Claude died at his parents home Sunday afternoon. He belonged to the Amarillo Council of DeMolay. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm Tuesday from the Claude Methodist Church with Rev W A Hitchcock officiating. N S ia and Sons funeral directors in charge.
