National Grand Champion Steer Sells for 3.30 a Pound
The 42nd International Livestock Exposition grand champion steer Loyal Alumnus 4th, an Aberdeen Angus exhibited by Purdue University, sold for 330 dollars per pound to Firestone Tire and Rubber Co. The similar last year’s winner Largo, a Hereford, owned by Evelyn Asay, also went to Firestone. The auction started at 1 dollar and rose slowly, with the reserve grand champion T-O Again selling for 1 dollar per pound to a Chicago club. The winning steer, weighing 930 pounds, was exhibited by T. Richard Tacy. Firestone plans a touring display in a glass-enclosed land yacht across Texas and the Southwest this winter and the Northern cattle regions next spring and summer.

All-School Dance Planned by Student Congress
An all-school dance will be held in the Senior High School gymnasium Saturday night from 8:30 to 11:45. Admission is 50 cents plus a toy for Christmas charities. Bridge Collapse Drenches Hartford Workmen
A section of the Connecticut River bridge in Hartford collapsed burying workers beneath a 100 ton crane and a massive girder.
