Diagonal joints curb rocking horse effect in Amarillo paving
City engineer E N Stanley devised diagonal expansion joints to prevent the rocking horse motion in pavement buckling. The improved Amarillo type, first laid before Margaret Wills School, draws highway commission attention as they probe buckling causes across the Panhandle and Canyon highway.
