Chicago Illinois Aug 28 plans for a single penitentiary to house all Texas prisoners have grown among the Texas prison centralization committee. W A Paddock chairman said decentralization caused inefficiency after visiting Stateville Illinois and the commission has data for a modern revision. The delegation planned to visit three Illinois state institutions before returning to Texas to prepare a report.

Heavy Texas Showers Sweep Wide Areas Amid Rains

Light to heavy showers drenched portions of Texas with Jim Hogg county reporting seven to eight inches. The rain benefited ranchers but washed out portions of a road under construction, while Amarillo saw 31 inches in the city vicinity and Vega noted a light shower. Forecast calls for more rain tonight and tomorrow.

Globe-News plans air derby tabloid edition

The Globe-News will publish a 48 page tabloid on the Municipal Airport Dedication derby next week. Advertisers are urged to call for space as many firms will be represented. 2000 copies will be distributed to chambers and business houses nationwide. The section will focus on aviation news with illustrations and feature stories.

Graf Zeppelin passes over Missouri and Kansas City

The Graf Zeppelin flew at about 1000 feet over Chillicothe Missouri at 11 05 A M and reached the southwestern outskirts of Kansas City at 9 40 A M local time. It circled the business district with a dozen planes nearby then headed northeast toward Chicago.
