West Side tenement fire leaves three dead and eleven injured

A four story West Side tenement blaze killed 65 year old Charles Hollander who jumped to the yard and fatally burned Moritz Brunwasser and Sophie Brunwasser and their teenage son. Firefighter Michael Coyle and two allies rescued Brunwasser from a third floor sill as flames closed in. The tragedy also left Mrs. Sophie Brunwasser, 46, and her 16 year old son dead from smoke and burns.

City weighs gas plan to own pipeline and cut rates
