Spectators watched as aileron rods fell from Devereaux's plane over the airport at about 800 feet, resulting in a fatal tank fall with a Borger man identified as the second victim.
Borger iron worker Sam L. Herring died from a fall from a scaffold at the old Marland Tank farm. Olin J. Mullin was severely injured in a second fall a day later while directing the lowering of a large steel section.
Arthur Brisbane notes unrest in Jerusalem with nine Jews and three Arabs dead and 110 injured after clashes at the Omar Mosque and Wailing Wall. A Quebec case details Zephyr Vian’s murder by his wife and the trapper, both hanged, raising questions on age and responsibility of the children.
More than 100 Jews and about as many Arabs have died in four days of fighting over the Wailing Wall. Six hundred armed British volunteers patrol Jerusalem, easing the in city but many Jews hide. American Jewish students are among the dead. Looting, food shortages, and a refugee fund mark the crisis as warships anchor at Jaffa and foreign consuls seek protection.
Old district criminal court cases were called and set for trial by Judge Henry Bishop. Final judgment was entered on three forfeited bonds totaling $3,260. Polk Street Methodist Church is being leveled after 22 years of service as a crowd gathers to witness the demolition. Once jeered for a large $25,000 plant the church grew to house many worshippers and weddings, with walls that saw countless sermons and conversions. The bricks will be reused for new businesses on the site.
The Tri-State Fair Association presents a three day racing program at the fair grounds August 31 to September 2 featuring Jack Calloway who is one leg and Wingy Williams a one armed driver in a Sunday afternoon race. A Sunday automobile show is also planned with many car makes on display.
In Lubbock Texas on Ats 27 a family trouble sparked a downtown shooting. C L Wise 26 was hit in the right arm and taken to a hospital. William Davis 18, Wise's brother in law, was jailed after witnesses say he fired twice as the men tangled. Bystanders A Beard and Steve Delaney disarmed Davis.

Graf Zeppelin battled headwinds in Arizona slowing to about 55 mph near Benson while El Paso reports show 55 mph progress due to altitude. Weather officials noted radio silence as the ship hovered near Fort Bliss, with a possible southern reroute if conditions worsen.
Jud Peck, a 19 year old farm hand, confessed to killing his 35 year old sweetheart Emma Womack near Fred in Tyler County. He said a scuffle ended with a club blow and he disposed of her body in a creek. A hearing is scheduled before Justice Ezra Eaves on Friday.
The Boeing mail plane Shuttle left Oakland at 8 29 a m on its first lap of a trans continental endurance flight headed eastward. Captain Ira Eaker piloted the aircraft as it was scheduled to refuel over Elko Nevada at around 2 p m local time.
The State Insurance Commission issued warnings to Texas schools to inspect buildings for fire hazards before term start. Precautions against student smoking were urged to reduce fire risk.
