Four die many hurt in highway tragedies Sunday

Borger iron worker Sam L. Herring, 31, of Petroleum Iron Works Houston, was crushed when a tank section fell as he lay inside an oil tank being disassembled near Borger on the old Marland Tank farm. He died at a local hospital late Sunday.

Amarillo Junior College opens offices in school building

Temporary offices for Amarillo Junior College president B F Masters opened at 207 High School building to handle enrollment for fall term. Four Prisoners Escape in Lamesa Jail Break

Lamesa Texas sheriffs report a midnight jail break at the Dawson County jail. Four prisoners escaped using saws, including Loyd Fulton, a black inmate, Robert Newton held on liquor charges, and Swayle Jones on cattle theft. All remain at large amid ongoing series of breaks at Dawson county jail.

Man and Girl Hurt in Airport Crash North of Birdville

Fort Worth, Aug 26. J L Holden 34 of Fort Worth and Miss Nell Kines 18 of Dallas were injured when their plane crashed north of Birdville yesterday. Miss Kines remained unconscious and is sister of Mrs Holden. Holden piloted the craft and was described as an experienced pilot.

Fraud in Texas oil receivership cases alleged before Senate panel

Fort Worth oil man Fred W. Strang testified to the Senate patronage committee that fraud in receivership proceedings is common in Texas oil, with many cases leading to properties ending up with politicians.
