State Senator Clint Small of Wellington will speak in Waco at 8 o clock Wednesday night in support of Ross Sterling for governor. Lieutenant Maurice M. Works, 29, son of Judge and Mrs. F. P. Works of 1916 Tyler Street, was killed when his army pursuit plane crashed near Puena Point Honolulu. The broken neck occurred during an emergency landing. he died at a plantation hospital. The adjutant general asked about embalming and shipment to Amarillo.

City engineer E N Stanley announced that 24 blocks on the T0-block resurfacing program in San Jacinto have asphalt laid as part of a city effort funded by leasing Panhandle Asphalt Company's plant for 124 weeks at $100 weekly. Amarillo’s paving investment totals $4,258,502 with $241,211 in pavement costs last year and private capital contributing $184,796.04. Brick pavement was the cost leader, followed by concrete in third place.

County Clerk Ted Blackle will keep the office open tonight to accommodate absentee voters. Ballots must be cast by midnight. Voters unable to reach the office should notify Mr Blackburn to keep it open. By noon there were 210 ballots cast, plus 40 mailed to voters away from the city. It is expected to near the totals from the first primary on July 26.

John W Brady former appeals court judge appealed a murder without malice conviction for the stabbing death of Miss Lehlia Highsmith. The appeal files detail the travis and Dallas county trial records with a likely review during the October term. Brady received a three year sentence after a second trial.
Florida publisher Fred O. Eberhardt of the Florida State News in Tallahassee matched charges with the state over an alleged plot to assassinate Governor Doyle E. Carleton.
