Mrs. Oliver O. Henshaw, 25, a Borger resident for four years, died when a Studebaker sedan overturned into a ditch 12 miles south of Spearman at 8:30 PM. Companions Mrs. H P Campbell and Bob Reynolds, both of Borger, were injured. The car demolished. Henshaw’s body sent to Borger for funeral arrangements.
Uncut diamonds valued around 150000 were recovered in the fifth treasure trove connected to slain gang chief Jack Zuta. The cache, described in Zuta papers seized by investigators, ties to holdups of jewelry salesmen. An eastern firm salesman met with Pat Roche and Charles Rathbun as investigators planned next steps.
Louise McDowell nine year old daughter of Mrs J D McDowell 705 North Pierce was injured slightly in a late Tuesday afternoon crash at the intersection of Sixth and Crockett involving a car driven by her mother and a light truck from Blackburn Tire Service operated by Louis Bechloti. The McDowell coupe traveled south on Crockett while the truck moved east on Sixth.

Sterling for governor headquarters in Amarillo reports Sen Clint Small will address the campaign in Waco, delivering his first speech in support of Ross Sterling. The hour and a half broadcast begins at 8 pm and will be aired statewide on stations including KGRS Amarillo KGKO Wichita Falls KTAH Houston KTSA San Antonio KTAT Fort Worth WRR Dallas and WRR Dallas and WACO Waco.
An editorial defends Ross Sterling against former Governor Ferguson. It argues Sterling earned wealth honestly through hard work and leadership, cites his actions for workers on a railroad, his charity, and donations to Houston Y M C A camps, hospitals, and Texas universities, and urges voters to prefer Sterling over Ferguson by voting Saturday.

Vernon state representative Cecil B. Storey will name his preferred candidate for attorney general on WDAG Thursday between 8 and 9 PM. In his first address of the run-off campaign he is expected to identify the candidate he now supports. Current attorney general Robert Lee Bobbitt and Jimmy Allred of Wichita Falls are the other candidates in the field.

Mrs Mae Hatzlip of St Louis was seriously hurt when her plane crashed eight miles east of Greenwood Mississippi today while en route from Atlanta to Washington She apparently veered from course tried to land in a cotton field a wheel failed on landing the craft ground looped and she was taken to a hospital unconscious Verda Downwalker of Los Angeles landed safely near the wreckage The Dixie Derby participant is wife of Ames Hatzlip aviator and petroleum company official who previously lived in Tulia Oklahoma
Minnie L. Reynolds, 53, wife of M. P. Reynolds, veteran Fort Worth and Denver conductor, died at a local hospital at 8 30 this Wednesday morning. Survived by husband and two sons M A Perry Amarillo and W A Verry Dallas plus daughter Mrs Rex Rodgers Tulia. Baptist member. Funeral from Griggs chapel at 10 80 Thursday. Burial Llano cemetery. Trash fire at Jarrett apartments 1116 Jackson Tuesday night prompted a fire department call. no damage reported by Fire Chief George Cooper.
A $150000 street improvement bond issue was authorized at a special election on May 27 by 1458 votes for and 872 against. It was sold with a $26000 park improvement bonds issue on July 8 to Dallas Union Trust Company of Dallas and C. W. McNear & Company of Chicago for par, premium, and interest totaling $1,750.
Drouth conditions described as disastrous by Gov Dan Moody prompted appeals to widen cotton loan programs and to urge Congress to convene a special session for drought relief. Temperatures reached 108 in Temple and 105 in Abilene and Fort Worth before showers brought brief relief.
