Woman Shot Second Time by Same Man in Georgia
In Macon Georgia on August 14, 1940s reports Sheriff Julian Peacock says Harry Thompson 46 shot and wounded his wife and her mother Mary Ragan 43 in front of the same apartment where he previously shot 18 year old Bobbie Ragan and her escort Bert y Law in July 1949. Thompson had earlier served a prison term for the 1949 shooting and had married Bobbie Ragan after his release. No motive was learned for the latest attack. Draft deferment ends for students next Monday
Selective Service announced there will be no extension of the deferment. If draft boards lack scholastic standings or aptitude test scores for college men by the 20th they can begin classifying those men for the draft on the 21st. Deferment to Aug 20 gave time for schools to mail standings and for Princeton Educational Testing Service to forward scores from last spring. Local boards may use this information to decide on another year of deferment for a student.

Services Held for Lovelace Infant
Funeral services for Buck Lovelace infant son of Mr and Mrs Cal Lovelace of Canyon were held today in Griggs Warren funeral chapel. Rev Herschel Thurston officiated. Burial followed at Dreamland Cemetery. The baby died yesterday morning at 2 15 oclock in St Anthony's Hospital.
