Ambitious Texas Expressway Plan Divides Amarillo
A proposed four lane expressway to link Texas cities by 1086 faces mixed reactions in Amarillo. Proponents urge routing over North Eighth and through Canyon to connect with Dallas traffic, while critics from the Amarillo Association of Highway Businessmen oppose diverting current routes. Hirschberg Trial Verdict May Be Contested
New York and Aurora report that 20 year old Harold W. Hirschberg was convicted yesterday by a Navy court martial for abusing two fellow prisoners in Japanese camps. His counsel Lt. Cmdr John J. ONeal said a civilian attorney may file habeas corpus in Brooklyn federal district court to challenge the board jurisdiction. Awaiting sentencing, Hirschberg may receive a March 26, 1946 honorable discharge review. A later appeal route could involve Rear Adm. Monroe Kelly and Navy judge advocate general Archibald Colclough. In a separate note, an 88 year old leper escaped from San Francisco City Hospital’s isolation ward.
