Bob Morton Funeral Set for Panhandle Pioneer
Final rites for R. W. Bob Morton, 71, Panhandle auto dealer and farmer, will be at 2:30 PM Saturday at Spearman First Methodist Church. Officiants are Rev. H A Nichols and Rev. R W Watkins. Burial in Hansford Cemetery under Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home. Morton died yesterday at St Anthony's Hospital after a two week hospitalization. He moved from Dumas to Spearman in 1920 after a Ford agency stint in Dumas. Survivors include wife Hazel, son R W Morton Jr of Denver, four daughters Lois Lemons Panhandle Betty Rutledge Houston Anna Lee Kirk Spearman and Lorene Howell White Deer, a brother Jim Morton Dumas and two grandchildren.

Crash Victims’ Condition Good Near Amarillo
Neighbors report Mrs. Eddie Louis Whitney Sr. 27 and her son Eddie Louis Jr. 7 are in good condition after a late yesterday crash at Pullman Switch seven miles east of Amarillo on Highway 66. Their car collided with a truck driven by Paul Ray Collins 24 of Butler Oklahoma. driver uninjured. They were treated at St. Anthony’s Hospital and released. Mrs. Whitney had a broken foot and the boy a severe head gash.

CHICAGO April 21 The wonder hormone ACTH failed against infantile paralysis in a controlled trial at Boston's Children’s Medical Center. Thirty five polio patients and a similar control group showed no differences in temperature, paralysis, or progression. The report, by Cornell Murphy Stokes Siegel Cook in JAMA, notes a separate Detroit study suggesting ACTH may help inflammatory eye diseases.
