West Plains Mo April 16 Prosecuting Attorney Green outlined revenge and financial woes as motives in the blast that tore through a dance hall last week killing forty. He named J M Weiser 47 who rented a garage beneath the hall as a possible culprit noting a sputtering light and his presence minutes before the explosion while disputing gasoline fumes as the cause. Weiser body found twenty feet back from the garage and coroner Burns cites a match ignition theory though Green argues acid burns on the face suggest handling acid. Weiser had just canceled a sales agent contract with Oakland Motor Car Co and owed money to General Motors Acceptance Corp though no company indebtedness.
Dr. A B Goldstone alias Goldstein is held in Tarrant county jail for switching trunks between Wichita Falls and Fort Worth and allegedly stealing jewelry valued at $60 000. He was captured in Chicago after a months long chase led by Burton Roach and other officers. The loot portion was recovered with ties to Amarillo and Oklahoma City connections.
Friends of T. E. Bruner hear that Tom Bruner is much improved and likely to be about soon barring complications.
Plans completed to consolidate fifteen gas companies across Oklahoma Texas and Louisiana into the Southwest Gas Utilities corporation. The system will include 60 000 acres of gas lands with 750 million cubic feet of daily open flow and 1 000 miles of transmission pipelines. Public financing will be handled by Edmund Seymour and Company with stock exchanges driving most of the merger.
E M Statler prominent hotel owner dies at 65 in Hotel Pennsylvania New York. He rose from bellboy to owner of more hotels than any other man, after early ventures at the Pan American and St Louis expositions and first permanent hotel in Buffalo. He married Alice Seidler on April 30 1927 after eleven years as his secretary.
The Jack Kearns and Jack Dempsey trial in federal court was postponed from today to Wednesday. Judge John C. Knox delayed the case to hear an unrelated matter not expected to finish before late Tuesday.
Geares W. Briggs of Eastland has accepted the offer to become manager of the Pampa chamber of commerce, succeeding Scott Barcus who resigned. Briggs will take office about May 1.
Col. Charles A. Lindbergh flew his new brougham cabin monoplane from Lowry Field at 10 08 a m on an unannounced leg of a mystery trip. He departed unaccompanied, with Harold Bixby and Harry Knight following in separate planes. Reports placed possible landings at Colorado Springs or St Louis as Guggenheim sponsorship plans arose.
Five gunmen abducted an express messenger and three guards in Toledo, seizing about 200000 in cash securities and travelers checks. They fled in a sedan after forcing the truck to the curb, wounded Patrolman George Tentara, and were later surrounded in a garage by police before abandoning the loot and escaping.
Miss Mary Port, 20, of Altoona Kansas, a teacher at the Missouri State school for the feeble minded, was killed when the car she rode in collided with another vehicle five miles south of Marshall on Sunday.

A blaze at the Blair Four quarry camp near Williamsburg Blair County Pennsylvania killed thirteen people including a mother Annie Krepachaik and seven children plus a newlywed daughter and nine guests. Embro Krepachaik survived on the first floor while others perished on the second floor before escape. Coroner C. Rothrock investigates cause of the fire.

One person is dead and seven injured when a blaze swept the Ith Quois Theater causing about 200000 dollars in damage. The deceased is unnamed. Ambulance services from John Maynard Lumber Co. Ltd and Jefferson Griggs attended the scene.
