The University of Texas Bureau of Business Research reports 79 firms failed in March, 3.7 per cent fewer than February and 15 per cent below March 1931. Average liability was $16,316, down 23 per cent from February. groceries and meat markets led with 17 failures, dry goods and clothing 11, and eight each in drug stores, men’s wear, and automobile supply and repair sectors.

Five Arkansas college students led by Lucian Koch of Commonwealth College may abandon their investigative relief mission after being whipped and expelled from Harlan County Kentucky. Fire swept the Crim Building second floor in Henderson Texas early today causing about $3000 in damage. Firemen rescued several lodgers using ladders at windows while lower floor stores suffered water damage.
