Wheat growers voted 77.5 percent to keep rigid federal marketing quotas for the 1956 crop and accept price supports at 76 percent of parity or about 1.81 dollars per bushel. The plan outlines apportionment of 55 million acres across farms with quotas tied to each farm’s share of the national allotment.

Silliman Evans, 61, president publisher of the Nashville Tennessean and a key Democratic figure, died in Fort Worth after attending Amon G. Carter's funeral. He had recent heart attacks and was found dead in his Fort Worth Club room. Evans, born 1894 in Joshua, Texas, rose from printer to editor and served as a Washington correspondent before later business ventures. His funeral is expected in Nashville.
Partly cloudy and warm Monday and Tuesday with isolated showers possible in the afternoon or evening, especially along the eastern border. Highs range from 85 to 95 degrees in the north and 90 to 100 degrees in the south. Generally fair Monday night with widely scattered thundershowers in the south portion.
Comparative readings at 3 p.m. yesterday show Amarillo at 15 mph wind with 15 miles visibility and cloudy skies. Houston reported partly cloudy conditions while Oklahoma City and Amarillo remained cloudy with winds around 18 mph.
Police sought a 190 pound airman for questioning in the Dickinson Texas triple homicide of Ruby C. McPherson 44 her son George 12 and her mother Zola Norman 65. The airman was seen with Mrs McPherson at a restaurant Wednesday night and is believed to have stolen her car and driven toward California. The bodies were found after neighbors grew suspicious at the family home near Dickinson Bayou.
In Queens a deep excavation pit collapsed burying two boys who were playing nearby. Two companions were rescued by police. investigators feared a third boy was trapped but no additional body was found. The accident occurred at a private home foundation site at 139th Street and 115th Avenue in Jamaica.
Pittsburgh news notes Inland Steel Co offered the CIO United Steelworkers an average 10 cent hourly wage rise. The union rejected the proposal, which Inland estimated to total about 10.42 cents per hour, starting at 6.5 cents for class one and rising to 23.4 cents for class 35, similar to U. S. Steel's approach but with fewer job classes.
Secretary of State Dulles said he was gratified by the Soviet note expressing regret over the shooting of an American patrol plane near the Bering Straits. The note offered partial compensation for damages and indicated willingness to ease tensions ahead of the Geneva talks to begin July 18.
