First Claude Wheat Nets Grower Premium
The first 1939 wheat arriving at Claude was bought by the Nelson Grain Company. Grown by J. F. Taylor in the Lakeview Community eight miles south of Claude, the wheat tested 60 pounds and averaged 10 bushels per acre. It sold for 62 cents a bushel and earned a $10 premium for the first load.
