Invitations are going out to towns across West Texas for the 17th Anvil Park Rodeo sponsor contest in Canadian July 2 3 4. Mrs J L Yakley named hostess with 12 sponsors signifying intent. Prizes include 125 saddle 30 boots 12 50 spurs and 10 spur tie clasp. Judges rate horsemanship appearance equipment personality wardrobe and horse conformation. Queen Sydna Yakley named Miss Sydna Yakley hosts Chuck Wagon Feed and committee plans entertainment. Winners from past years may compete but are barred in future years. Extortion Note Probe Traces to Cambridge Suspect
A 39 year old Cambridge man was held incommunicado after a writ ing expert linked a $100000 extortion note to former Governor James M Curley and a $10000 demand to Executive Councillor Daniel H Coakley found on a typewriter in the suspect's office. Detectives will seek warrants charging attempted extortion on Monday. Both demands bore the signature The Black Shamrock and Coakley’s included a crude shamrock drawing. Other politicians were reportedly threatened.

Four people died when their airplane crashed into brush land near Montague Massachusetts. Witnesses said a wing fell off, sending the plane into a tailspin. The deceased included Lester Hodgen pilot manager Katherine Welch Donald Drew and Howard Glazier all of Greenfield. The Beauford Bake owned plane had recently been purchased. Hodgen had flown the others aloft from Turner Falls Airport for a sightseeing tour. The crash area lay about a quarter mile from a country road and roughly three miles from the airport.
