Floydada authorities report a freak crash when JT L Kimmell Sr a 52 year old minister overturned near Custers filling station. The truck broke a pipe into the underground tank causing 100 extra gallons to enter the storage tank. Kimmell was injured with a crushed pelvis and hospitalized in Littlefield.
At a state dinner in Washington King George VI and President Roosevelt toasted each other amid praise for peaceful world progress. The exchange highlighted Anglo American bonds and referenced the Pacific island dispute as an example of diplomacy easing conflicts. The King lauded the host nation's hospitality and expressed hope for continued close ties between their realms.

In San Jose authorities arrested 19 year old governess Graham Gaylord after tracking her with help from San Francisco police. Krehe Osborn five year old son of Mrs. Mabel Osborn was recovered in a hotel room. A ransom note demanding sixteen hundred dollars prompted police action and a public safety warning previously withheld by newspapers.
Sam A. Ramsey deputy under Sheriff Bill Adams died at Swisher County Hospital Tulsa last night after an automobile crash two miles south of there. Three others were injured two critically. Ramsey suffered a broken hip and shoulder and possible internal injuries and never regained consciousness. The accident occurred Wednesday night about 9 o'clock when his car overturned, pinning him and Cecil Clark beneath. Dick Vaughn and Mrs. Clark were also injured and in critical or fair condition. Vaughn was treated for a skull fracture and shock. Clark had a possible broken back and could not be moved for X rays. The vehicle reportedly traveled about 50 mph and veered, causing the rollover after a fuse blown suggested brakes failed. Vaughn was taken to Northwest Texas Hospital. Ramsey’s body was taken to Amarillo for funeral plans in Cleburne. Ramsey, Amarillo resident since 1924, served as civil deputy under Sheriff Wylie Pollard and later under Sheriff Bill Adams.

Six people were killed and more than 100 injured when a military plane crashed into a house in Badenhausen yesterday The fire spread to twelve other houses where three people were incinerated Six more were burned and scores were slightly hurt The three other dead were the plane crew.

Percy F. Crow, 48, of Dumas Texas, died at Minden sanitarium from injuries after an automobile collision three miles west of Minden on Monday. Funeral services are set for tomorrow at Marion Louisiana. He is survived by his widow, three children, four brothers and two sisters.
Mrs. Remus M. Akers testified that Grover C. Hall of Denton killed her husband last Christmas at Dawson due to jealousy. The murder trial was recessed during cross examination as she could not continue on the stand.
Dick Essery of California flew a motorless two place sailplane from Wichita Falls to Oklahoma City, landing near the capitol and claiming a new American record for distance with a passenger Jack Begley of Wichita Falls. The flight covered about 126 to 127 miles with Begley aboard, part of the Southwest Soaring Meet.
Senator Sheppard of Texas introduced legislation to provide annual appropriations up to 3 million dollars to finance business research activities in colleges and universities across the United States.
British voters favor the Chamberlain government plan for an independent Palestine under joint Arab Jewish control with 64 percent approval. The British Institute of Public Opinion survey notes strong support among Britons and overseas affiliates, including American Jews.
King George and Queen Mary attended a British embassy garden fete in Washington, greeting 1,900 guests including J. P. Morgan, Mrs. John Garner, and Mrs. Cornelius Vanderbilt. The queen carried a white fringed umbrella as the couple toured lanes, chatted with Morgan, and then sat for tea with Mrs. Garner. The pair spent about an hour at the event.
