Amarillo High School celebrated 540 graduates at Fair Park Coliseum with 30 January and 45 August completers, as 33 scholarship winners were announced. The ceremony opened with Elgars Pomp and Circumstance performed by the school orchestra led by Charles L. Emmons, and ended with the Valedictorian Wayne Hilgers receiving the Amarillo College scholarship.

Harris McDonald Kimbrough prominent Amarillo attorney dies of a heart attack after 8 p.m. at his home 2613 Hayden. Born April 17, 1899 in Houston he had lived in Amarillo since 1908 and was a WWI veteran, University of California, University of Texas alumnus, member of First Baptist Church Amarillo Bar Association American Legion Sigma Alpha Epsilon.
