Train wreck derails Shasta Limited near Roseburg
In Roseburg Oregon on December 2 the Shasta Limited of the Southern Pacific derailed seven and a half miles north of town when a drive wheel rim fell from the locomotive. Six cars left the track, injuring many passengers aboard the Portland to San Francisco run.

Tragedy Near Spur Seen By Plane Owners In Fire
A Ford tri motor plane caught fire in air near Spur Texas killing five aboard including Matthew Watson Homer Ballard and two San Antonio residents. Eyewitness Filis Draper described the blaze as the craft flew low toward the caprock then burst into a torch that engulfed the fuselage. The pilot appeared unaware as passengers were helpless, the craft banked and descended toward the wind before vanishing from view. The incident occurred en route to Amarillo where they planned to pick up passengers.

Braving flames to protect Linde plant worker burns
