Texas Highway Commission approved seal coating on Park Road and Highway 90 with estimated combined costs around 97 thousand dollars. Highway 90 will run from Altuda east to the county line about 47 miles, cost about 63 thousand. Highway 118 from 20 miles south of Alpine to end of paving about 40 miles, cost about 34.6 thousand. First 20 miles of Highway 118 seal coating underway. paving 10 more miles south toward park boundary approved recently. County Judge Felix McGaughy notes route survey to begin in November. A new drive-in theatre by J T Davidson of Fort Worth is under construction on five acres east of Twin Peaks, housing 300 cars, expandable to 600, with individual car speakers, opening by mid November. Davidson retires from building business to run theatre, plans to operate it himself, located on south side of Highways 90 67, from Mrs Kate Mosley land.

Attached were two canvas bags with scientific instruments, two five gallon cans of fuel, ballast sand, and labels citing U S government ownership. Park Highway Surfacing Finished In Big Bend Area
The Lions of Big Bend road contract completed at noon and the highway now paved from Marathon to headquarters in the Chisos Mountains. The contractor expects to finish the Boquillas section, about 10 more miles toward the Rio Grande, within ten days. Mike Hord Alpine Resident Dies After Illness
Milam Sidney Hord age 46 dies at home of his father in Alpine after a month long illness. Born April 21 1905 in Golian he moved to Alpine in 1910 and worked with his father in ranching and was a barber. Survived by father Joe S Hord three brothers Lawrence of Carlsbad NM Joe C of Fort Worth and Tack of Alpine a sister Myrale a son Mike Jr in El Paso and a daughter Betty Jr employed in Frankfurt Germany. Funeral held Tuesday at the Methodist Church with Rev Le Roy Sewell and Rev Fred S Rogers officiating and interment in Elm Grove cemetery. Pallbearers named.

Scout Drive To Begin Next Week
C F White local Scout field executive told the Rotary that the Boy Scout Movement is the most widely accepted and least understood program in America. The aim is to give every boy in the district Scouting opportunities through six activity areas while building the Scout Oath values. Don Littleton announced the annual finance drive for next October to fund operations and extend Scouting, with drives planned in every community served by the district. Mr and Mrs Frank Young and Dr Davie F Pugh and his two daughters visited last week.
