Alpine School officials said the week achievement tests will probably be administered October 1, 2 and 3. They said the Harlowe Battery Tests No 1 probably would be administered this year rather than Gray Wotan or the metropolitan tests which have been used the past several years.
Officials this week said student teachers had been assigned to public school critic positions in Alpine Schools to date.
The World of Ideas home decorating program with an international flavor will be shown Wednesday October 1 at Marathon Clubhouse under sponsorship of the Study Club. Mrs. David Bishop and Mrs. Eldon McGonagill will read commentary on 55 color slides in this program.
Alpine Centennial School overwhelmed Alpine in the small boys game 36 0 and narrowly claimed the second by a slim 60 0 margin. In Marfa Van Horn Big Boys beat Marfa Big Boys 266 while Marfa Small Boys edged Van Horn 60. Next Thursday Central visits Van Horn and Marfa faces Centennial in Alpine.
Texas Highway Commissioner Petry Jr will be guest of the Marfa Chamber of Commerce at a 7 p.m. informal dinner in the Paisano Hotel on Saturday October 4. Alpine residents invited. Cost is 3.50 per person. Petry to discuss highway needs including river road from Lajitas to Bedford.
