The State Game Commission announced hunting seasons for the area west of the Pecos River. Mule deer run Nov 16 to Dec 15 with one mule deer allowed. white tail deer Nov 16 to Dec 31 with up to two or one mule deer per bag. Black bear Nov 1 to Dec 31 with one. peccary Nov 1 to Dec 31 with two. no turkey season for conservation. Wild quail season Nov 16 to Dec 31 with a daily bag of 12 and 24 possession limit. Fur bearing trapping allowed in December and January.

International Playground In The Big Bend Is Seen By NPS Director
The Big Bend area in Brewster County received a deed for 700000 acres to the United States for recreational use. Governor Stevenson presented the deed to M R Tillotson, with Mexico pursuing a corresponding project. Tillotson praised the park as a national treasure and forecast broad international scope and year round public access. A postwar expansion and dedication may involve cooperation between the two nations, with emphasis on future development after the war.

Mrs Irene Peters Dies After Brief Illness at 63
Mrs Irene Peters aged 63 died at 10 Monday morning in Fort Stockton hospital after a two day illness. Born Irene Rogers in Pearsall Texas on December 24 1879 she lived in Alpine since 1911 and was active in the Presbyterian and Alpine churches. Surviving are three children D R Elliott Mexico City George Peters Prescott and Oscar Peters Galveston a daughter Mary Josephine died in childhood a brother Arthur V Rogers and his twin sister Mrs Ida Parker. Funeral services were held yesterday at 10:30 at the Methodist church with Rev Fred S Rogers officiating and Elm Grove cemetery interment. Funeral home staff assisted.

Moisture appeared in parts of Big Bend and Davis mountains, Hovey area received up to 144 inches, Nine Point ranch tanks were full, Nevill Clark and O2 ranches showed moisture, Alpine saw showers midweek.
