Alpine Airport Board Members Withdraw Resignations
Alpine City Council met with the airport board yesterday as resignations were withdrawn and reappointments accepted. Jack Williams became chairman, Don Geeslin remains on the board, Neville Haynes secretary treasurer, Bob Corkins vice chairman, John Stradley also serves. The board had resigned en masse Tuesday citing lack of operating funds. full records of receipts and expenditures offered. Repairs to the runway extension are planned before Oct 14 for the air tour stop, with rock cleanup and seal coat to follow. costs to be kept separate from airport funds.

Alpine School Students Drive Higher First Day Enrollment
Alpine Public Schools report rising counts across three campuses led by Alpine High School with 385 students versus 363 last year. Grades 6-8 total 335 up from 308, grades 1-5 rise to 512 from 493, and Title I Kindergarten grows to 40. Special education totals reach 18 for a first day aggregate of 1,290 compared with 1,212 last year.

Alpine parents press board at special meeting over school consolidation
On Monday night September 1 1969 Alpine Independent School District trustees heard protests from 129 parents and taxpayers led by Barbara Causey and Ralph Burleson. They questioned school philosophy grade placement transportation railroad safety and the 1969 70 budget while praising plans for a stronger junior high program and more student activities. Transportation issues would be revisited later.

The Alpine Buck Boosters Club plans a 7 30 p m meeting Monday September 8 in the Central School cafeteria. Films of Alpine Crane and Alpine Sanderson scrimmages will be shown and memberships are being accepted at 1 dollar per person. Booster bumper stickers are 1 dollar, window schedules 25 cents, funds support high school game filming and public school athletic programs.
