Border Patrol Garage Destroyed In Blaze Last Thursday Night
A fire discovered last Thursday night destroyed the Border Patrol repair shop at headquarters and damaged the storage garage roof. Several Border Patrol cars were saved, but equipment in the garage was lost. The city owned buildings carried $1000 insurance each. Fire Chief J.C Cooley said the blaze likely started from overloaded wires on a battery charger.

Ration Books Issued in Brewster County Update
About 7,000 No 4 War Ration Books have been issued in the county to date according to the ration board. Registration occurred Friday and Saturday with city teachers as volunteer registrars. Alpine reported about 5,000 issued, Marathon 1 010, Study Butte 256, Buena Suerte 159, and other river areas roughly 500. Many residents have not registered and may do so next Tuesday or Wednesday by bringing Ration Book No 3.
