Alpine plans a Holiday Bazaar hosted by St. James Episcopal Guild on Saturday November 12 in the Holland Hotel ballroom. Chairwoman Laurene Lie leads preparations with handmade crafts, dolls, baking booths, and a book stall, plus a white elephant and grab-bag booth.
An arts and crafts exhibit and sale will be held at the American Legion Home by Auxiliary members from 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday December 4 and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday December 5. All area artists are invited to display paintings etchings sculpture ceramics knitting and embroidery valued from 1 to 1000. Proceeds benefit the Alpine Public Library and refreshments will be served. The Cancer Sewing Group at Alpine Community Center honors the late Mrs J F Nichols longtime Cancer Service chairman and acknowledges the Christian Church ladies who started the project. Members listed include M A Bubler Pat Bourgeois J T Carney Jo Sasparis Ida Chastain and others inviting more women to join each Wednesday afternoon from 1 90 to 200. Memorials have been received in Mrs Nichols memory.
Mrs Carl Shults entertained the Wednesday bridge club at her home with a dessert bridge. High score went to Mrs Marvin Pierce, second to Mrs John C Epperson. Mrs Hugh White won the bingo prize and Mrs C C Mudd received the caration prize. Refreshments served to attending ladies including guests. Local item notes Frank McColhim and wife left Saturday for a Dallas market for The Model store.
