Geologists Rally for West Texas Field Trip Tour

Geologists and students from Sul Ross University Texas Tech University University of Texas Baylor will join a three day fall field trip by the West Texas Geological Society. The opening program at Sul Ross features Dr John A Wilson Dr James Lee Wilson and John F McKnight with Dr Norman McNeil welcoming attendees. The tour covers Solitario uplift Shafter Presidio Terlingua and Big Bend National Park with early events at 7 30 p m on Wednesday Oct 20 in the Fine Arts Auditorium.

Seagraves Fire Truck Due By Nov 26 After February Order

City officials were told the Seagraves fire truck ordered last February will be delivered on or before November 26 1965 with a $5000 performance bond posted. City Attorney John Allen requested an itemized equipment list and total price. Dog catcher Paul Jones reported 30 dogs caught in 7 days and 142.7 miles traveled. mileage paid 10 cents per mile plus $1.50 per dog. Dogs go to Alpine Vet Clinic with owners covering boarding and vaccination costs. Council considers higher boarding rates and a separate shelter. John W O Donnell to negotiate. The council approved six more trash containers and allowed Water Supt Werner Hollis to attend a Texas A&M course November 15. The Granada Theatre safety concerns were referred to the fire marshal and health officer.

Top- Ranked Bucks Defeat Fl Paso Foxes 20-6 at Home

Alpine joins the Class AA elite with a 20 to 6 win over the Fl Paso Foxes. The Bucks totaled 348 yards while holding their opponent to 118. Alpine scorers included Dennis Bryant with an 18 yard end sweep and Carlos Vasquez from the 10 yard line with 5 seconds left in the first quarter.

Anna D Linn to be Homecoming Queen at Alpine Harris game

Alpine High School observes Homecoming with Miss Anna D Linn named queen during half time at the Alpine Van Horn football game at Jackson Field at 7 30 p m. The announcement notes Linn’s long service from 1922 to 1962 as Sul Ross College registrar and English professor and lists numerous Class of 1915 alumni and relations. An alumni reception follows at Central School Cafeteria with invites to ex-students and families.

Cemetery Meet Set for Monday
