Alpine notes and family travels echo West Texas links
The column recalls a Sept 1 departure from Idland Terminal for San Antonio where Martha Austin recovers from kidney surgery with sister Mary Carter visiting from Oklahoma City. Mentions Vivian McIntyre and Janette Morrow en route, a subscription arrival from The Avalanche, visits with Dr. and Mrs. Jack Longbotham, and Ruth Shelton’s son Jim Roark’s Alaska to Vietnam trip. A greenshores trip on Lake Austin includes Jim’s relatives and canned goods from Larry Fritz. A Texas UCLA football game trip ends the entry.
