Marathon to Fort Stockton Highway Project Included
The 18 mile Ranch To Market road from Marathon to the Pecos county line is now in the Texas Highway Commission two year program. Funding comes from the Federal Aid Highway act of 1954, matched by state funds. Survey work will begin soon under Engineer Charles T. Holmes of Alpine, with right of way to be secured and construction slated after planning completion.

312-Foot Radio Tower Installed By WTU and Texas Dept
A 312 foot king sized radio antenna tower on South hill Alpine was completed to serve West Texas Utilities Co and the Texas Game and Fish Dept. It surpasses a nearby 112 foot tower and will cover about 200 miles for two way communications with mobile units game wardens and district offices. The Andrews Tower Co. built it in record time from Saturday to Monday with supervision by Frank Cowsert and Bill Wilson.
