Fort Davis contract awarded for officer line reconstruc­tion work

The Fort Davis National Historic Site awarded the first reconstruction contract to Robert L. Guyler Co. of Lampasas for 538,31 dollars to reroof and rebuild porches on 14 Officer’s Line houses aiming to resemble 1880s cast appearance. Work may start by December 15, with adobe and stone quarters needing extensive repair.

Deadline Approaching for Vets Gifts in Camercan Region

Blacktail Deer Season Opens in Big Bend Region

Hunters from across the Southwest converge as the annual Blacktail deer season opens Saturday in the Big Bend and Davis Mountains country. DeVoll notes deer are fat and plentiful aided by cool weather, with prizes including a $100 rifle and $75 binoculars from the Big Bend Sportsman's Club. Thanksgiving Day Service Set at 9 A.M. in Alpine Nazarene

The Alpine Ministerial Alliance sponsors a joint Thanksgiving Day Service at 9 a.m. today at the Church of the Nazarene at 11th and West Avenue B, two blocks north of Alpine High School. Rev. Robert White hosts, with music, invocations, readings, solos, a sermon, and a benediction. Proceeds benefit the Ministerial Alliance Benevolent Fund aiding the transient needy.

Williams Named Favorite Professor at BSU Breakfast

Sul Ross State College education professor and director ve Ge pay womans, pro sor and director of teacher placement at Sul Ross State College was named favorite professor at the Baptist Student Union breakfast. Williams received a leather Bible as thanks for his Christian influence. General Carr to Speak at Alpine High School

Attorney General Waggo Carr will address Alpine High School students at 10 a m Friday December 6 in the school auditorium. Mary Morrow president of Pine Student Council says the organization sponsors the affair. Governor Margaret vonnet of Bl vonnet State and a delegation to Aug 17 18 to the Yo Conference in Austin will attend and introduce Bernard M Sut inspector of the FBI in Washington D C Supt Jack Frost and Roy Wor the school principal will give opening remarks.
