Natural Gas Service Starts in Alpine Neighborhoods
W C Cole of Southwest Texas Municipal Gas Corp announces natural gas is now available in Alpine. First connections were made Monday, with meters being installed and more customers calling TE7 4560 to connect. Rose said plumbers will handle connections and house lines tested for leaks, about 1.5 hours per site. Gas customers total 1955 with Alpine 593, Marfa 908, Fort Davis 152, and Balmorhea 302. other towns had already begun service.

The Alpine community holds a yearly Thanksgiving service at 9 a.m. Thursday November 25 at the First Baptist Church of Alpine. Rev Edwin Chappell of the First Methodist Church will preach with several local ministers participating. Offerings support the Alpine ministerial fund aiding transients.

Private Lives staged by Gamma Iota Cast at Sul Ross College
Noel Coward play Private Lives will be presented December 2 3 and 4 by the Gamma Iota Cast of Alpha Psi Omega at Sul Ross State College Little Theatre. Annual deer contest planned by Big Bend Sportsmen
The Big Bend Sportsman's Club in Alpine sponsors a deer hunting contest from November 27 to December 12. Prizes include a Model 110 Savage rifle for the largest deer and daily prizes for the heaviest deer weighed. Tickets and contact cards are available at Alpine businesses displaying the club poster, with a 225 caliber rifle to be awarded as well.

Hollis Completes 40 Hour Water Technology Course
Hollis, superintendent of Alpine Water Works, completed a 40 hour Water Technology course at College Station. The program was run by the Engineering Extension Service division of Texas A&M in cooperation with the Texas Education Agency and he earned a special certificate. He also received an American Water Works Association merit award for his department’s 1964 safety record. Most street lights have been strung.
