Alpine High band faces funding and equipment gaps
The Alpine High school band with 52 members relies on a 2000 appropriation spent about 1100 so far to acquire uniforms, instruments, and music. It trails Sul Ross in resources and plans extensive improvements, including new instruments, ensembles, awards, and intercity concerts while maintenance and heating systems strain the district.

Weekly Livestock Summary From Fort Worth Stock Yards
Supplies across the market circle were tight last week with cattle and sheep posting solid gains. Strong demand lifted cattle and calves by about 1 per cwt, while stocker and feeder prices showed up to 2 higher in places. Lambs and yearlings also posted gains as good and choice fat cattle remained scarce and priced from 17.50 to 24.50 for middle grades.
