Connie Schrimsher hunted last week during the season visiting her parents Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Duncan. She credited a single shot from her 30-06 rifle with a K4 scope for taking a black tail buck and a white tail buck. Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Burgess left Tuesday for Amarillo and planned to return by week’s end.

Prominent Alpine Attorney Dies After Long Illness
Judge Harry V. Fisher, 59, a longtime Alpine resident and former Texas legislator, died Sunday after a prolonged illness. He served in World War I, led the Big Bend American Legion post, and is survived by his widow Minnie Louise, son Hal, and sister Mrs. W. H. Davis. Funeral with full military honors was held Tuesday at the Legion hall, Elm Grove cemetery.

Jaycees Host Turkey Shoot For Light Fund
Alpine Jaycees plan a two day turkey shoot before Thanksgiving and Christmas to raise funds for a lighted softball field. Jim Francois chairs a committee including Tom Stowell Bill Sohl and Keith Morrow with members assisting. Events run Nov 20 21 from 2 p m to dusk at the Border Patrol range east of town. Turkeys 12 15 pounds dressed will be provided and shooters use .22 rifles either personal or provided. Proceeds support the construction fund for the lights.

New parallel parking markers were installed in Alpine blocks including E Eve B, N 2nd, N Walker, and N Cockrell as part of a broader street improvement plan. Paving and curb work continue, with a sidewalk on the west side of the Fort Davis highway and a new loop at N Sth street south of the Casparis residence enhancing curb to curb pavement north to the city limit.

Buildings On 5th And 6th Streets Will House Owners Within Few Days
Two new business houses in Alpine will open soon. Henry Bailey's building on North 6th street will be ready in a few days with a floor warming for a Pilot club dance before Bailey moves in. Smith Furniture plans to occupy its building as soon as ready for Christmas. Concrete floor pouring began on the east end Wednesday.

Auxiliary Nets 365 From Brand Quilt Auction
The American Legion Auxiliary held a Mexican supper and a Brand Quilt auction at the Legion hall on November 11. The quilt first sold to H. L. Kokernot Jr. for 124 dollars, then was auctioned again for the high bid, with total proceeds of 365 dollars.
