Henry Bailey Motors presents the 1957 Oldsmobile featuring a new wider chassis, pivot-poise front suspension, redesigned grille, and a 277 hp Rocket engine with 371 cu in displacement. The line adds four body styles, including three Fiesta wagons and an 88 convertible, with new accent stripe and twin Skyline beading defining its styling. Jetaway Hydra-Matic Drive, power steering and power brakes are standard on Starfire 98 models.

Wootton Speaks On Citizenship at Alpine High
Rev. Ralph Wootton spoke to Alpine High students on The Blessings and Objectives of American Citizenship as part of Good Citizenship Day led by Mrs Chalmers Broadfoot. Pete Valenzuela presided, with music by Alpine High Band directed by E Joe Lee. Wootton, recently an Army chaplain, urged active citizenship in school and country.

Judge Patterson Attends Lubbock Judicial Meeting
District Judge and Mrs. C. 5. Patterson of Alpine attended a state meeting in Lubbock with supreme appellate and district judges. Patterson will join a panel on Domestic and Marital Affairs discussing co mingling of community and separate funds. The gathering will run through Saturday and is expected to draw over 200 judges. The United States Treasury will collect more than 100 million dollars this year from grazing and timber rights in national forests.

Alpine Lions Club aids eye tests at Alpine Centennial
Alpine Central School conducted testing of 90 students using the school’s audio meter since the start of the year. Eye tests are being administered at Alpine Centennial with an eye tester provided to local schools by the Alpine Lions Club.
