Council Okays Gas Rate Hike

The City Council approved a 7 percent rate increase for Southwest Texas Municipal Gas Corp citing higher natural gas costs and inflation. New rates apply next billing period with a yearly rate review allowed. Voted for by McBride Beard Vogt. Connor abstained.

City Hall to Install Donated Music System

City consulting engineer Arlo Gill offered to donate a music system for the new city building and the council accepted. The original $800 piped music plan was dropped to cut renovation costs. Gill also listed needed office furniture for various departments.

Communion Set At St James Parish Services

Rev. Eugene Myrick of St. Clement's Episcopal Church will conduct communion at St James Episcopal Church Alpine at 11 a.m. Sunday November 9 and at St Paul's Marfa at 9 a.m. that date. Lay readers will continue morning prayer at 11 a.m. at St James after November 9 until a new vicar is named or visiting priests arrive.
