Alpine overcame Fabens 33 to 20 as Alex McCollister rushed for 171 yards and three touchdowns. Jim Pattillo opened scoring with an interception, and Tom Coats connected with Pancho Garcia after halftime. Alpine sits 2-1 in district play with Marfa at 3-0. Friday’s Alpine Marfa game in Marfa could decide 6-AA champs.

Imelda Gallego Named AHS Coronation Queen
Imelda Gallego a senior and daughter of Mr and Mrs Pete Gallego has been elected Coronation Queen of Alpine High School. She is a cheerleader with three years on the squad a Stu dent Council treasurer and has held multiple class offices. Imelda represented Alpine High in UIL debate was a shorthand contestant and served as Girl's State delegate last summer ahead of the Queen's Coronation in February.

Paul Hill Dies Here At 62 A Local Educator
Paul Hill 62 longtime high school and college English teacher died at 2 a m Friday November 7 in his home of an apparent heart attack. Funeral 2 p m Monday November 10 at First United Methodist Church burial Elm Grove Cemetery under Geeslin Funeral Home. Memorials may go to Alpine Community Center. Hill born January 13 1907 in Denver Colorado taught in Alpine and Sul Ross State University and was married to Della Stanforth in 1933. Survivors include his wife a daughter Dr Catharine Savage two sisters Miss Mary Hill Miss Flora Hill and a brother Dr Kenneth Hill of Denver.

Rotary club donates for markers at Big Bend junctions
The Alpine Rotary Club donates $100 for bronze geographical markers to be placed at the junctions of Highways 90 and 67 and Highways 385 and 90. H. L. (Sid) ourratt, club president, says the markers will highlight unique geological formations found only in the Big Bend Country.

Miss Oates Appointed Alpine Chamber Secretary Manager
Alpine Chamber of Commerce president John Stradley announced that Georgie Oates has joined the C of C as secretary manager effective November 15. She succeeds Marilyn Richardson who resigned to relocate to Copperas Cove. Richardson had served since September 1467. Oates is the daughter of Mrs. Tiny Bow of Alpine.

Alpine High to Combine Baccalaureate and Commencement
Alpine School Board voted to merge baccalaureate and commencement next spring after noting May 25 1969 attendance of 130 with 62 seniors honored. The district also adopted a drug discipline policy allowing hearings before trustees prior to possible expulsion. Follow the Bucks to Marfa Friday.
