Armistice Day observance planned in Marathon
Big Bend Post No 79 of the American Legion and its Auxillary will hold Armistice Day services at Marathon High School on Wednesday November 11. The Marathon Study club sponsors a community service flag ceremony with 83 stars already representing Marathon service members. The flag has room for 150 stars, and more will be added as more men depart for service. A. E. Owens commander will speak for WWI veterans and Judge Hunter Metcalfe will speak for those in service in World War III and present the service flag tag to Marathon citizens.

Gas rationing registration set for three-day period
At a War Price and Rationing office meeting on Wednesday a state representative outlined registration for gas ration books to be held Thursday Friday and Saturday of next week. Blank forms will be available Monday at service stations. Owners must list tire serials and bring 1942 registration or proof of payment. Inspection deadline is January 31 1943. Tires over five per car must be turned in before ration books are issued. Non highway tractors are not affected. Registration in Alpine will be at three schools Central ward junior high and Centennial from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. for three days with volunteer registrants.
