Waitress Wins Carnegie Hero Medal for Beach Rescue
Miss Amelia Funk, a 27 year old waitress from Los Angeles, received a bronze medal from the Carnegie Hero Fund Commission for rescuing Robert R. Clifford, 22, from drowning at Huntington Beach. She battled heavy breakers for more than 600 feet to pull the unconscious swimmer to shore and administer artificial respiration.
